Ivana Trump went on Good Morning America this morning to promote her new book and made some (frankly puzzling) comments about her ex-husband which included:
“I have the direct number to [the] White House. But I [don’t] really want to call him there, because Melania is there. And I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that, because I’m basically [the] first Trump wife. Okay? I’m First Lady.”
It’s not the first time we’ve heard Ivana brag about the advice she gives the POTUS, but it’s the first time she’s earned herself a public response from his wife.
Actual First Lady, Melania Trump, made a statement through spokesperson Stephanie Grisham a few hours later:
“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the President. She loves living in Washington, D.C., and is honored by her role as First Lady of the United States. She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. Unfortunately only attention seeking and self-serving noise.”
Now, despite whatever speculation there is on how Melania feels about her new role, it looks like we shouldn't hold our breath for her own book in the coming years.
