The idea of a supermodel launching a cookbook caused some skeptics to roll their eyes at first, but months later, Chrissy Teigen’s book continues to get a rave reception from fans and pleasantly surprised home cooks—including other food-loving celebrities.
Mindy Kaling posted on Instagram this weekend about how Teigen’s Cravings is “hands-down my favorite cookbook,” and that she was cooking her way through it. “On the right are two of my favorite recipes: King's Hawaiian BLPTS and pot pie soup. I die. Get this book and do a full Julie & Julia with it like I'm doing!” she says, referencing the blog by food writer Julie Powell, who cooked every recipe from Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French cooking and inspired a 2009 film about it starring Meryl Streep.
Chrissy Teigen, always active on social media, commented on Kaling’s instagram with “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I don't believe this! So awesome. Thank you thank you!!!” How many Os is that? We lost count.
Kaling seems to enjoy spending time in the kitchen; the same weekend, she also shared an image posted by a friend of the star happily cooking.
And last month, Kaling shared an image of gorgeous blueberry muffins she had baked at home, although she claimed (jokingly?) that she "hated every second of the process."
While we’re not sure if these funny women are friends in real life, they seem to have a mutual respect in and out of the kitchen. Teigen made a hilarious cameo on The Mindy Project last year.
Meanwhile, Teigen’s book has gotten a ton of attention since its release—including her controversial (cheesy!) approach to guacamole—but her recipes remain a favorite for many, including the hungry person writing this article right now. Some incredibly popular recipes in the book include her lemony cacio e pepe and a ridiculous cheesy bacon cornbread: totally delicious, and best of all, not remotely what you'd expect a supermodel to be eating.
