Nicole Richie Tried the Most Unexpected Winter Hair Color and It's Kind of Amazing

We live for celebrity hair inspiration, and we nearly fell off our chairs when Selena Gomez showed up at the American Music Awards as a blonde. Gomez's fierce new look follows in the footsteps of other style stars who have gone blonde this year: who could for get Kris Jenner's epic transformation, as just one example? But, Nicole Richie's latest hairstyle just reminded us that there's a whole rainbow of hair colors out there. And now, we're kind of craving a dose of purple in our own 'do. 

On November 21, the House of Harlow designer took to Instagram to show off her new, lavender-hued highlights. And, wow. This style looks so edgy and chic, we can see why Richie has been a style influencer since the days of The Simple Life. 

Richie used Joico's Color Butter to get the look, and here's the cool part: it's only temporary. The purple highlights will rinse out after about 10 washes, and who's to say Richie won't try a different candy-colored highlight next? We think pink and green would both look fetching on her, now that we're thinking about it. 

As we've mentioned before, we love being able to test out a new hairstyle before fully committing to it. So, whether it's getting a fake bob for a one-night event, or rocking some pretty purple highlights for a couple of weeks, we're all for experimentation. 

And as a side note, we are also totally here for Richie's wavy, textured, side-swept style. The whole look is serving '80s vibes with a modern twist, and what could be better than that?
