Nutella Is Opening Its Very First Full-Blown U.S. Café This Month—Guess Where?

Expect gelato, pancakes, waffles, and savory items, too.

By Maggie Shi

Obsessed fans of the miraculous hazelnut spread, rejoice! Nutella has just announced it's opening its very first all-Nutella Café in the United States on May 31. The lucky recipient of this magical shrine to all things hazelnut? Chicago (which already boasts a Nutella Bar located inside Italian specialty store Eataly — why does it get another one??).

The standalone café, however, will serve many more items than its bar counterpart (there's one in NYC's Eataly, too). In addition to Nutella-filled crêpes, pastries, and gelato, there's a menu of breakfast items and additional sweets, such as buttermilk pancakes and waffles served with Nutella, steel-cut oatmeal topped with a dollop of Nutella, and seasonal fruit tarts and hand pies topped with the hazelnut spread.

There's also Nutella fondue!

To counteract all that sweetness, the café will serve savory items like paninis, salads, and soups (and no, these won't contain Nutella).

“We wanted to create a world of Nutella for our fans that could truly capture the essence of the brand – not just in the dishes that will be served, but in the full experience from the moment you step into the space.” said Noah Szporn, Vice President of Marketing for Ferrero U.S.A, the company that produces Nutella. “The Nutella Café offers something for everybody, and we encourage everyone to come in and try a dish or snack. We hope Nutella enthusiasts, Chicagoans and visitors enjoy the cafe as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
