Padma Lakshmi Could Never Give Up This One Addictive Junk Food

And she'd hop on a plane to eat at these two spots.

By Maggie Shi

Padma Lakshmi's tastes are quite simple, really. The glamorous Top Chef host has traveled the world, graced magazine covers, written four books, and has her own line of kitchenware and food products. But when it comes right down to it, her food favorites are (mostly) pretty down-to-earth. Here are four totally normal things you might not know about Padma's food favorites:

1. Her Perfect Food Day Would Include…

According to an interview in Town & Country, she'd start with tea and toast. Brunch would be at a favorite neighborhood spot in New York's East Village, called Il Posto Accanto (accompanied by her daughter, of course). They'd be home for tea at 5 p.m., then have a cozy supper at 7 p.m.: "a simple roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and a really crisp salad with lots of greens and pomegranate and green apple and mint." Nothing fancy, and we love it.

2. Her Favorite Splurge Foods Are…

We already know she's obsessed with burgers, but Padma also loves the tacos from Los Tacos No. 1, a casual stand located in NYC's Chelsea Market. "I would go there any day, any time," she said in the article. When she wants to indulge in alcohol, her choice of drink is tequila on the rocks. When it's hot, she'll add mint, lime, and club soda, too. But when it's cold, "I would do Patrón Reposado in a brandy snifter neat," she said.

And as for the one junk food she could never give up? Easy: "Potato chips," she revealed to Buzzfeed.

3. She'd Hop on a Plane to Eat…

A meal at Noma is worth the trip, "wherever they happen to be in the world," she told Town & Country. "Right now they moved the restaurant to Mexico from Copenhagen." Makes sense—after all, Noma is considered one of the best restaurants in the world, and a reservation there is nearly impossible to score. But her other travel pick?

"I would definitely get on a plane to eat the kebabs in Mumbai behind the Taj Hotel called Bademiya. It's a kebab stand that's been there since 1946," Padma said. Nice. We can get behind that.

4. Her Favorite Store Is…

Surprisingly, if Padma could only shop at one store for the rest of her life, the former fashion model and jewelry designer wouldn't pick a fancy boutique or high-end beauty shop. She'd choose to shop at Kalustyan's, a humble spice store located in NYC with whom she wrote her latest book, The Encyclopedia of Spices & Herbs.

See? Padma Lakshmi, celebrity host, author, and model—she's just like us.
