Selma Blair Adopts Beautiful Pit Bull Just Weeks After Losing Her Dog, Ducky

We hope her new pup helps to heal her heart!

Back in 2015, Selma Blair adopted a rescue from the no-kill facility Best Friends Animal Society. She went with a senior Chihuahua-pug mix named Ducky, and the kohl-eyed pup instantly became a member of her family and a star on her Instagram.

But last month, Ducky suffered a tragic accident, and although Selma did everything she could to save her precious pup’s life, the efforts failed. Her emotional plea tugged at our heartstrings: “Please say prayers for Ducky,” she posted on her Instagram. “She had a terrible accident this evening. The vet recommended ending her suffering. But when her tail wagged, I couldn’t do it. We are going ahead to try to put her body and organs back together. She is our home. We ask for this miracle. Please say a word.”

It is always devastating to lose a pet, but Ducky’s death seemed especially hard on Selma and her family. After the pup passed, Selma wrote, “Run with the angels. We miss you so much. So much, sweet girl. Please send us our next dog. With the spirit of you and wink [her first dog].”

And now it looks like her prayers have been answered. Two days ago, Selma announced they had found a new four-legged family member: A pit bull named Cappy whom they adopted through Angel City Pit Bulls (ACPB).

“And so we have begun another dog love adventure,” Selma posted on her Instagram. “Cappuccino Houston (Cappy) entered our lives a few weeks ago. She is a shy dog, and much patience and work is being done. But, already bonded with Arthur, she is a kind and dear girl. She is almost still a pup herself. And has already weaned her own babies. Now she has another needy young one. Arthur. And it is just what we all wanted. Thank you for all the help.”

Congratulations to Selma and her family on finding a new furry soulmate!
