Massachusetts is famous for two things: Dorinda Medley’s Berkshires home/the amazing “Berzerkshires” The Real Housewives of New York City episodes and Little Paws Dachshund Rescue. Everything else is just peanuts (sorry, Ben Affleck; go pick up Matt Damon in ya cah and take your baked beans to go).
Little Paws Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue that specializes in finding permanent homes for dachshunds and dachshund mixes. They are committed to changing lives four paws at a time, and they rescue dogs from 18 different states with the mission to give these tiny dogs lives full of love and snuggles. You can even follow their happily rehomed doxie success stories on their blog.
And now meet your Real Shelter Dogs, complete with opening credits-worthy taglines AND short little legs! (If you are interested in adopting any of these precious pups, please visit www.littlepawsdr.org.)
“All play and no work makes me a happy doxie.” – Honey
Honey is the sweetest diva you'll ever meet! She gets along really well with other dogs and thinks everyone should spend time petting and adoring her like the diva she is! Every senior deserves that, right?!
“The song goes ‘I wish I was an Oscar Mayer wiener and everyone would be in love with me’…and it’s NOT wrong.” – Oscar Mayer
Oscar Mayer is a four-year-old Chiweenie (dachshund/Chihuahua mix) who is looking to conquer the world…or maybe just the living room. You can find him climbing on the couch, table, or really anything he can reach. He loves cuddles, walks and happily sitting by the window to report every cat, dog, squirrel, or leaf he sees!
“A true mouser never backs down, and I'm no exception. Holla!” – Heidi
Heidi is a 4- or 5-year-old dachshund mix who thinks cuddling and belly rubs are the best! Don't let her smile fool you; She’s an accomplished hunter. Please no cats or anything else small and fuzzy in her new home!
“I’m not a dachshund, but I am real.” – Roxie
Roxie can’t quite believe she’s not a dachshund...even though she’s really a Chihuahua/terrier mix. She had a rough start to life and needs some help learning to trust people again. Her foster mom says she’s a feisty five-year-old. She loves life and can't wait to find someone special to share it with.
“Ladies love teapots and I am short and stout.” – Jake Henry
Jake Henry is about five years old and thinks squeaky toys and wrestling with foster siblings is the best way to spend a day. Not to brag, but he’s kind of a ladies’ man. Once he finds a woman he likes, he stick to her like glue! But he’s afraid of big dogs... you’ll protect him, right?!
“If you can handle my ear rubs, you can handle me.” – Tally
Tally is quite handsome! His foster mom says he’s polite and respectful with other smaller dogs, but big dogs make him a little nervous. He’s affectionate and recently discovered the joys of a good ear massage! Want to be his new masseuse?
