Take it away Taylor!
One of the biggest and most exciting relationship milestones is moving in together. Setting up shop is a ton of fun but in order to keep things sexy, its critical to ask some very un-sexy questions. Ask these five questions…and you can thank me later.
1. The talk
This is awkward. But get over it and dig in because having “The Talk” is critical. The main question being: “why are we moving in together?” If your answer is “because in exactly 365 days we will be engaged and its marked in my calendar” and his answer is “because I’d like you to become my live-in cleaning lady”….we have an issue. Make sure you're on the same page.
2. The name game
Is your name on the lease? I repeat: IS. YOUR. NAME. ON. THE. LEASE? This question isn't exactly hot, but yah know what else isn't hot? Being kicked out of “your” house mid-fight in the middle of winter.
3. Money, honey
People like to breeze over this topic but if you attempt to do so, you will emotionally pay later on. Who's paying for what? Rent, bills, more bills. Talk. It. Out.
4. A girl's gotta eat
I'm not exaggerating when I say I broke up with someone because we shared vastly different views on the grocery store. He mistook me for a 1950’s housewife and was outraged that I wasn't making a daily sojourn to the grocery store followed by nightly meal prep. Me and the delivery man from King Wok are BFF’s and I like it that way. Make sure to ask about meal planning and the grocery store ASAP.
5. Date your new roomie
When you move in together you think you're going to see each other all the time but actually its quite the contrary. The bathroom door gets left open, you’re seeing things you wish you could un-see and next thing yah know you’re just two ships passing in the night. Remember, there's comfortable and then theres too comfortable. Keep yourself in check and remember to ask the most important question of all, “will you go on a date with me?”
Good luck and stay sexy people!
