Below Deck's Kat Held: Why I Snitched
The Yachtie talks coming forward about alleged drug-using guests.
On the series premiere of Below Deck, Kat Held faced a serious dilemma. While the guests were partying on the boat until the wee hours, she discovered a mysterious white powder and rolled-up bill in a bathroom. Should she alert the crew that potentially illegal activity was happening on board the Honor? Or should she stay quiet and not jeopardize the staff getting a big tip?
To help her with her problem, Kat discussed the situation with Chief Steward Adrienne Gang and they decided to take it to the Captain, who immediately returned the guests to shore and forfeited the rest of their voyage.
So why did Kat choose to come forward? “The only reason I told Adrienne was because she was my roommate,” Kate tells Bravo, “and therefore she was the only person I could talk to without anyone else around that night. She just happened to also be my Chief Stew. When I did tell her, I had no idea what the outcome would be. I wasn't even sure if she would say anything about it to the captain, but I had no idea that the captain would ultimately cancel the charter."

Despite the crew losing out on tips, the Captain lauded Kat's decision to come forward, saying it was "outstanding."
Looking back now, Kat still doesn't regret her decision. “Hearing the Captain tell me I did an outstanding job was a huge relief,” she says. “I had a lot of guilt from embarrassing the guests because their charter had been cancelled, and also for upsetting some of my crew in regards to getting a tip. It was an awful situation to be in, and having the captain's support is a big deal. I knew at that point that I had made the right decision.”
