After Show: Is ‘La La Land’ Over-Hyped?

La La Land has already inspired a copycat engagement shoot.

The story of two lovers and their dreams trying to make it in Los Angeles, the Oscar-nominated movie uses the city as a beautiful backdrop—which Marlies Hartmann of M. Hart Photography copied for one couple who love the film.

Ellen Wleklinski and Corey Collins, who plan to wed in September at the Redondo Beach Historic Library, played Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, who are Mia and Sebastian in the movie. They recreated the dance on their first date, and took pictures at Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Bowl.

“My favorite part about the shoot was their real-life chemistry [between Ellen and Corey],” Marlies tells Personal Space.

Marlin adds that even though her photography skills were top notch, the couple are really in love in “an Old Hollywood sort of way,” which really brought the movie to life.

Bride-to-be Ellen had mentioned that she and Corey had also gone to the Griffith Observatory for one of their first dates. Marlins had just seen La La Land and mentioned that the couple reminded her of Mia and Sebastian.

As far as the couple knows, the shoot is the first of its kind since the movie was released.
