It could all be over next week. Not to be morbid or anything.
A study done on cheaters has found that there’s an actual day people are most likely to start an affair this year—it’s Jan. 9. Hey, new year, new sidepiece. Just say no.
The site, which has 3.3 million members, consistently sees user activity increases in the New Year. The site asked 13,000 to participate in the survey.
“On Monday, January 11, 2016, the site also recorded an increase in registrations of more than 320 percent,” said a spokesperson for the site, explaining the trend last year at this time. “This trend is observed throughout the month of January.”
Why was this the most popular month and date to stray?
Fifty two percent of those polled said after being tied down to family for the holidays (the horror!) they wanted to “regain their freedom” and get away from responsibilities.
The site determined that people were also looking for excitement following the come down period after the holidays.
“Routine may weigh down on individuals, or be rather oppressive when it follows extended periods devoted to family life,” said the spokesperson.
“This is the result of a legitimate human need: to have fun and think of oneself.”
How wonderful. Beware Jan. 9!
