Even the world's most fearless jet setters have moms. And those moms worry. That's why one globe-trotting adventurer has dedicated an entire Instagram feed to reassuring his mother that it's all good out there in the world, no matter where he is.
Jonathan Quiñonez cites burnout as the reason he left his work-a-day job as a consultant in Brussels, Belgium, and bailed to go travel the world in search of a more fulfilling life, he told Today.com.
He left in March, with Cuba as his first stop. But Internet connectivity is not dependable there, so he wanted to come up with a creative way to let his Mexican mama know all is well.
"It was almost impossible to connect with my mom, so I came up with the idea to take a photo at every stop because a picture speaks a thousand words," Quiñonez told Today.com.
From there, he was off and running with a plan to post photos with his "Mom, I'm Fine" message in the form of a sign.
When the paper sign isn't practical, he finds other ways.
Never mind the wildlife, mom — he's totally fine!
He's posed with his sign in Costa Rica...
...and Peru, where he enlisted some friends to help him spread the message.
His adventures have included ziplining...
...and mountain climbing.
Not to be outdone, his mom had a message for her son, too!
Best news of all? He's managed to associate the Instagram project — which now has nearly 200,000 followers — with a humanitarian and development project.
Good things come to those who let their moms know what they're up to.
