Victoria Beckham Just Took Carpool Karaoke in a Totally Different Direction

The designer reenacted a classic '80s film with host James Corden.

How could Victoria Beckham appear on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke and not find some way to use it as a branding opportunity? The fashion designer went off script from the usual karaoke session by going on script Thursday night, recreating the very weird 1980s human/object love pairing of Mannequin. In case you haven't seen it, Mannequin is about a forbidden romance between a living man and a cursed life-sized woman doll, played in the original by Kim Cattrall. Victoria can't quite live up to the campy original version, though she is almost too perfect looking to be human:

In this new version, James is but a simple talk show host in love with the only mannequin on set. No one can see Victoria as James sees her — alive. But Victoria the mannequin is so very lonely. She wants to be amongst her own kind, other mannequins wearing her new Target clothing line in the window of a Target.

If you were hoping to see Victoria loosen up and perform some Spice Girls hits, fear not. There’s about 45 seconds of “Spice Up Your Life” with some seated choreography. No one catches this lady off-guard, and if you try, you'll just see a stiff wooden statue.
