Who Rescued Who? 10 Celebs We Love That Have Adopted Dogs

These famous faces opened their homes up to furry friends in need — and we're all better off for it!

By Heather Dale

What do you get when you pair a sweet rescue doggy with an equally sweet celebrity? A level of heartwarming cuteness that is more than worthy of a repost!

Stalking the following celebs Instagram feeds was made a wee bit too easy thanks to their mutual love for adopting doggies, their penchant for raising awareness about animal rescue organizations, and their ability to channel their popularity status to help find shelter pups new families. Yes they can and yes they do

Just in case you needed another reason to love the following ten celebs, check out these adorable snaps with their adopted fur kids. Not gonna lie, I maybe shed a tear or two with the ones that included tribute notes attached.  Now excuse me while I go snuggle up to my little four-legged lady and quite possibly take a selfie (dogfie?) or two.

1. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus loves her pets ... and even gets tattoos of them!

2. Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell has not only fostered dogs in the past, she frequently speaks out about rescuing her own pups like this cutie, Lola.

3. Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz is a known animal advocate — remember when he volunteered and raised $200,000 for stray dogs when he was filming in Bulgaria?! — and has a few rescues including Bailey.

Hugs and kisses with my girl Bailey. #nationalhuggingday #mansbestfriend

4. Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco brought home sweet Ruby (seen below and shared from the Instagram account of one of her other rescue pups, Norman Cook). She’s also very active with rescue organizations, even serving on the board of Paw Works.

5. Andy Cohen

No list would be complete without Wacha’s dad! Andy Cohen rescued this pup four years ago — and almost rescued him a little sister, too!

7. Amanda Seyfried

We’re of the belief that if you are a celebrity and your dog has more Instagram followers than most humans, you’re doing something right. Not only does Amanda Seyfried have this cutie rescue named Finn, she also fosters kittens! No “Mean Girls” here.

8. Miranda Lambert

When Miranda Lambert needed someone to watch over her mini horses, she did what any of us would do: she rescued two pups. Plus, she also helped rescue a whopping 72 dogs after Hurricane Harvey and has her own MuttNation Foundation to boot.

9. John Legend

John Legend has quite a few smooshies (Penny, Puddy, Pippa and now Pepper), but we especially love his rescued three-legged pup, Penny.

10. Nikki Reed

We’re not crying, you’re crying after reading (or watching) Nikki Reed’s story about her rescue Lucy who she saved from being put down.

Happy #nationaldogday. Meet Lucy, a dog that has changed my life forever. Her story while painful to read is one that must be heard. I will find a place to post it in it's entirety, but for now I'll give you the abbreviated version. Lucy was dropped at a shelter and her "owner" paid to euthanize her that day for chewing up her bathroom. I walked in minutes before they took her, and knew in my gut that something wasn't right- some other avenue needed exploration- that there had to be another option- and I refused to let them take her. I begged for anything, even a couple of minutes to find a solution. We discovered over the next hour that the dog in fact belonged to a wonderful man who could no longer keep her, as his wife had passed away from cancer, his house was foreclosed on, and this other woman was his neighbor who agreed to watch Lucy for him. He came down, signed Lucy over to me and we left the shelter together. I'll never get forget the noise that came out of this dog the second she saw her dad and knew she was safe. In that moment I realized without a doubt that some feelings transcended the language barrier between humans and animals- it was the kind of emotion that didn't require a word to understand what Lucy was saying. We all cried. Lucy is currently with an amazing foster family, but I am looking to find a permanent home for this beautiful girl who was minutes away from being euthanized, for no reason, and by accident. I will never forget her, she has a piece of my heart, and I know she will become the love of someone's life very soon. Call @FurKidsAtlanta if you're interested in Lucy.
