Would You Dye Your Hair To Match A Lisa Frank Dolphin?

Plus, all the other dye trends that are blowing our minds.

By Adele Chapin

It'll be 2017 in the blink of an eye. And yet, beauty buffs are still coming up with new ways to dye their hair. Instagram’s already introduced us to terms like “mermaid hair” and “galaxy hair,” but there was so much more hairy eye candy filling our feeds this past year. Let’s take a look back at the year that was in over-the-top hair dye trends, including truly amazing glow-in-the-dark locks.

It's all about that denim hair😏 I got to get creative on our new and beautiful barista here at 7 Salon🤗💙

Denim Hair

Denim goes with everything, so the same must go for “denim hair,” right? Buzzfeed wrote back in February about the silvery shade that’s a dead-on match for a pair of faded Levi’s 501s.

Rainbow Roots

These roots are not low-maintenance. Platinum hair gets a rainbow twist in this March Instagram post, which was spotted by Seventeen.

Black Light Hair

Ravers will be intrigued with this “phoenix hair” trend, reported by Refinery29 in November. It seems like ordinary rainbow-colored hair until it gets under the black light, then it glows bright neon. Perfect for clubbing, clearly.

Hair Stencils

This is like graffiti for your hair. Allure reported in May that the look is achieved by hovering a stencil over the hair, then spraying with temporary hair color to transfer the stencil to your mane.

Lisa Frank Hair

Remember your dolphin Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper from middle school? This is the hair version of that binder. The trend has been going strong since September, according to Refinery29.

Funfetti Hair

Don’t confuse “Lisa Frank Hair” with “funfetti hair.” OK, they are both essentially rainbow locks, but the name funfetti as a hair color is inspired.

Dunkin’ Donuts Hair Dye

This one might not look as out there as the others, but focus on the technique here. Some DIY-ers this past month have been mixing Dunkin' Donuts Dark Roast coffee grounds in their conditioner and using it to color their hair. It’s economical, that’s for sure.
