Matt, Mood Boards, and Marfa
Courtney explains how she made the best of all the stressful situations this week.
"Let's Just Make the Most of It"
When it comes to life and rough situations, my mother taught me one valuable lesson: MAKE THE MOST OF IT… And in tonight's episode of Courtney Loves Dallas, you see me do just that in several rough situations.
Let's walk through them, shall we?!
Rough Situation #1: The Matt Drama
Exes really know how to suck the life out of you, don't they?! And when it comes to playing with your emotions, they are quite genius. At the end of last week's episode, y'all were left with seeing me walk away from Matt Nordgren after he told me that we had "nothing." And I was happy with that decision. I had gone to dinner with the attitude of "let's MAKE THE MOST OF IT," and when I felt defeated, I exited. And I could've left it that. But one would think that when he chased me and then called over, and over, and over again that I would crumble and be putty in his hands again…BUT NO. Not only was I emotionally exhausted, but I was embarrassed… embarrassed that I hadn't seen him before for what he really was: Matt was all talk and no action. I had given him years of my life and I was done. D.O.N.E. And at that point there was nothing left to do than say goodbye.

When it comes to work, I am typically great at leaving my personal life at the door, but coming off the heels of the Matt drama, I was flustered and overwhelmed, and in over my head…but thank God I hired my new assistant, Shannon, at the perfect time! She was really able to step in and help me reign it all in and stay organized for my big Bauble Bar presentation! I had been asked to create "mood boards" to present the collection via Skype (mind you I had no idea what a "mood board" was and still, quite frankly, have no idea!) but there was no way I could've made them all in such a short time frame (mind you: Mom's surgery recovery, the Matt dinner, and the Bauble Bar presentation were all within about 72 hours!). Despite my lack of creativity and artistic ability, I was hoping I could talk enough to distract them from the mess that was my "mood boards"…God might not have blessed me with the ability to draw, but he certainly blessed me with the ability to talk…so what else is there to do than MAKE THE MOST of what you've got! And that's exactly what I did, and thankfully, it worked!
Rough Situation #3: Girls Trip to Marfa
After the hellish week I had (Mom's surgery, Matt dinner, Bauble Bar stress, etc.), a girls’ trip with my best friends was exactly what I needed to revitalize and get my head back on straight -- good idea, Tori! Marfa was a small town in Texas that I had seen pictures and read stories about, but honestly when we got there, I felt like I had dragged the girls 8 hours away for nothing. Thankfully, despite the bicycle debacle and the awkward dinner, the Prada exhibit was the icing on the cake to make everything better! And honestly, I had my 3 best friends, no responsibilities, and no babies, so it was the perfect opportunity to, yep, you guessed it: MAKE THE MOST OF IT!
