So much has been made of all of the new etiquette rules Meghan Markle has to abide now that she is the future wife of Prince Harry. And with so many eyes around the world upon the newly engaged couple, how did Meghan fare in a highly visible first test of all these rigid rules and protocols? Quite well, it seems.
The bride-to-be showed off what was by many accounts a mostly flawless curtsy when she greeted Queen Elizabeth during church services on Christmas morning outside the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. Meghan mastered the ever-so-subtle — not exaggerated — curtsy, leading with the left foot, according to People and other outlets.
Nicely done indeed — if a bit nervous looking, apropos for such high-pressure circumstances. But Prince Harry leaned in and appeared to share some reassuring words.
For the big moment, Meghan was in the excellent company of another brunette beauty, who once became a royal while the world watched in awe: Kate Middleton. Kate also curtseyed to the queen, and Prince William and Prince Harry bowed their heads.
But what you want to see is the big curtsy moment, of course! Wait for it... wait for it... wait for it. There it is (at 2:56)!
The moment marked another first: Meghan became the first fiancee (read: not technically family yet) to join the royal family at Christmas, according to The Daily Mail. It's an overwhelming show of warmth for the American expat who is already charming new fans around the world.
