Michelle Obama's Thigh-High Glitter Boots Are the Fabulous Ending 2018 Needed

Closing out the year on a (fashion) high note, the former First Lady casually rocked Balenciaga's sequinned knife boots like it was NBD.

It's no secret that, here at The Lookbook, we have a strong appreciation for a pair of glitter boots. Ever since Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak-Biermann both wore Saint Laurent's $10,000 sparkly over-the-knee stunners last fall, we've been dreaming about adding the festive, glittering footwear to our wardrobes. Fun fact: Marlo Hampton and Kendall Jenner wore them, too. (Now, if we only had a Real Housewife-sized budget to make this dream a reality....)

And don't think because Nene and Kim's glitter boots were worn last year that the world has moved on from this head-turning trend. During her most recent appearance at Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last month, Sarah Jessica Parker donned a pair of equally-fabulous holographic boots from her eponymous footwear line (which ring in at a *relatively* more affordable price point of $595).

So, imagine our delight when, this morning, we happened upon a photo of former First Lady Michelle Obama strutting across the stage at her most recent stop on her Becoming book tour at Brooklyn's Barclay's Center. Outfitted in head-to-toe Balenciaga, the author (who, coincidentally, was being interviewed by fellow glitter boot-wearer SJP) stunned in a silky yellow shirtdress with a tie waist and a high-low hemline. But, of course, the biggest showstopper (at least in our eyes) had to be the fully-sequinned gold thigh-high stilletto pointed-toe boots. Be still, our hearts.

Obama's footwear retails for $3,900, which — by Real Housewife standards — pretty much makes them a steal. Another style tip we're going to be copying from the style icon: her skillful pairing of gold with yellow.

Here's to ending 2018 on a (fashion) high note!
