Who Is Sports Illustrated's Newest Cover Star, Danielle Harrington?
You can say you knew her when ...
You know practically everything there is to know about Gigi and Bella Hadid, and you could crush any trivia night that has questions about Kendall Jenner. But, there's a new top model in town, and you're going to want to study up on Sports Illustrated's mind-bogglingly beautiful new cover star. So that you can stay at the top of your model-intel game, here are a few things to know about Danielle Herrington ...
First off, the 2018 Swimsuit Issue doesn't mark the Compton native's first appearance in Sports Illustrated. In 2017, the 24-year-old was also featured in the magazine's swimsuit issue as part of its "rookie class." The shoot took place in Fiji, but even the turquoise waters and island vibes couldn't quell this rookie's nerves.
"I was really nervous,” Herrington told Fox News of her first big shoot. “You know how you’re so nervous your knees shake? That was me. SI was my first big job modeling so I definitely felt the pressure within me.”
But, the stunner's modeling experience is not limited to beaches or swimwear shoots. Herington has also mastered her runway strut, and has walked at New York Fashion Week for designer Philipp Plein — twice! The first time, she appeared in his Spring 2017 show. And, the model was back at NYFW a few days ago to showcase his Fall 2018 collection.
While at fashion week, the rising star copped to being just as star-struck as we would be. After her first walk for Plein, Herrington told CR Fashion Book: "I'm obsessed with Future and Nicki Minaj, who both performed, but my most starstruck moment by far was being backstage with Adriana Lima. She's even more beautiful in real life."
Herrington is also a huge fan of Tyra Banks. "I just remember Tyra Banks being on the cover [of Sports Illustrated] and that’s where it all started for me," Herrington told Fox News. "That’s what really made me pursue modeling. SI was a goal from that point, from seeing Tyra on the cover. It was love at first sight … everything happened naturally."
And, the two have since become pals! On Febuary 13, they even hit up the Black Panther premiere in New York as "princess and queen."
Even though she has big modeling ambitions, Herrington has a low-key approach to fitness and beauty. Now living in Brooklyn, she works out with a trainer at a gym called Absolute Power Fitness. "[It's] like $30 a month. I'll be on the treadmill next to a guy wearing a hoodie, jeans, and Timberlands. But yeah, I run a lot and box, which is really fun. I'm naturally really muscular so I purposely don't do any weight training," she told CR Fashion Book.
When it comes to beauty products, Herrington keeps things pretty normcore. She swears by Neutrogena orange pump soap and Pond's moisturizer, and sticks to a simple haircare routine that includes a little conditioner and air-drying.
Congrats to Herrington on her first major cover — and for being an all-around rising star! We can't wait to see more of the young model.
