Since being on Married to Medicine, my education has been the butt of many jokes. Either people choose to clown on me stating I am "dumb," they question my degrees, or if I have any at all! Well let me break it down for the naysayers, Toya Bush Harris is far from a dummy. Education is extremely important to me, and it is what I teach my boys. And let's be clear, my husband would not trust his most prized possessions, his sons, to someone he thought was uneducated. Dr. Eugene was more intrigued with my mind than my booty. #bigbootybutyetallbrains
I have always been an avid reader, because it exposed me to new topics, new places, and what was going on in the world. It sparked an appetite for more and the desire to be more than what I saw growing up. When the time came to enroll in college, I was love sick, so I followed my high school boyfriend and enrolled at Tennessee State University. I decided I wanted to study education. The first year was great. However, after my second year, I remember getting a huge-ass bill from the bursar office that made me sick, in addition to realizing my first love was really a dud. So I packed it up and headed back to Michigan. Once I got back to Detroit, I enrolled in classes at Eastern Michigan. I attended EM until I was offered a job at the University of Phoenix as a job counselor. Soon after I began taking classes there and completed my bachelor's degree in business administration. I later decided education was really where I wanted to be, so I went back to the University of Phoenix and got a second degree in education. I could go on and on with my accolades, but you get the gist of my point. I am no dummy, which is why when Heavenly asked me to partake in her Heavenly's Angels event I was on board, because knowledge is power. When you know better, you do better. I love speaking to kids and empowering them to elevate to their highest potentials.
I may joke around a lot and like to have fun, but you see when it comes down to business, Toya gives a hell of a presentation. Dr. Eugene and Dr. Wak could not deny my great ideas, business sense, and ability to get the job done. NOMAD MD is about to be on fleek!
In the end, I know I can be anything I want to be career-wise, because I have the knowledge and determination to succeed. Yet at this present time in my life, I have been blessed with an outstanding husband who gave me the choice to be a stay-at-home mom and raise our sons. And not to toot my own horn, but my boys are an example that I am doing an outstanding job. #HelloParentsMagazine!
Ashton and Avery are doing great in school and exceeding their teachers' expectations. In addition to making sure I rear up the next set of MDs for the world, I am working on a series of children's books, which will soon become available. Now that does not sound like the agenda of a dummy if you ask me. The sky is the limit for Mrs. Mega Mom, aka Toya Bush Harris. #hatersfallback
