Making Frankenstein

Nathan discusses just how important it was to get his furniture just right.

By Nathan Turner

It's all come full circle. . .I just left my event at Bloomingdale's that Elle Decor and Bravo hosted for me and my furniture line with Elite Leather. I decorated one of their windows right on Lexington Avenue and sat in it today while blogging for Racked.com. It was such a funny experience. I was truly on display. . .like a hamster!

So you saw the beginning of it all tonight when Mary and I went to High Point, NC. I typically go twice a year with Elite Leather to show new collections. It really is the most important place for the furniture industry, and it was so fun being there with Mary, even though she was a bit of a fish out of water. I actually enjoy it there. . .lets face it, I'm really just there for the BBQ!

Designing furniture can take a while to get things just right. Obviously it's all about design, but for me comfort is just as important. That's why the "Frankenstein" issue was a big one. Thankfully we got it all sorted, and it turned out really well. I couldn't be happier that Bloomingdale's picked up my new collection.

I loved what Martyn did at the Colony Palms. I've been there and he really has made it chic and comfortable. Fun to see lots of my pillows and other things he purchased from my shop! I wish I had been poolside with Ireland. . .we both love to order lots of food -- another reason I love her!

It's all going so fast. . .one more episode left! To see more of my furniture go to NathanTurner.com.
