Josh Flagg Has One of the World's Largest Collections of Billy Haines Furniture
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent has mirrors, chaise lounges, and more from the interior-design legend.
Josh Flagg has a jaw-dropping china display, but gravy boats and dinner plates aren't the only things he collects. The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent also owns one of the world's largest collections of furniture from a legendary Hollywood designer: Billy Haines.
According to House Beautiful, Haines first rose to fame as a designer in the 1930s, and his client roster was just as celebrity-studded as Josh's. (Haines worked with Gloria Swanson and Joan Crawford, just to name a few.) Josh first became interested in Haines when he sold one of the estates he designed back in 2016.
After that home was sold to a one Mr. Tom Ford (yes, the Tom Ford), Josh bought some of its furnishings at a Christie's auction. His initial purchases included mirrors and chaise lounges. Since then, he's expanded his collection to include 1960s-era red-leather-and-elm table and side chairs upholstered in white vinyl.
"Most of the estates that Billy Haines designed have been dismantled or sold off, so there are really no complete houses left that were fully designed by Billy Haines," Josh told House Beautiful. As for Josh's collection, he keeps some of it in his newly finished 1920s mansion in Beverly Hills; other pieces are in storage units.
