Falling Short of My Beliefs

Luis explains why he tried to use the doctored photos -- and what he's learned from his mistake.

By Luis D. Ortiz

I have to admit, this was not the best of my moments. I always try my best to stay true to who I am and to what I represent and in this instance, I fell short of my own beliefs (as we all do at times). However, I can't say that I regret my happened. By doing what I did I learned what not to do in the future and that lesson is worth having done what I did. Sometimes we're told what not do, but it is only after we go through it ourselves that we then understand why it shouldn't have been done. That's when a real lesson is learned.

A Little White Lie

I was given the opportunity to pitch Andy, the owner of this townhouse in the West Village, and sell him on the fact that I was the right guy for the job. When I succeeded in getting the listing my objective was to sell it as fast as possible in order to impress my company and the owner of the house. The problem was that I got overexcited and instead of thinking and making a plan, I did what I thought I needed to do to get people in the door fast. In the end, it was not pretty.

Everyone was mad, and I can understand why. I tried my best to get people through the door as fast as possible that I didn't give myself a chance to slow down and evaluate the situation. I have learned that sometimes slowing down is the best way to move faster. In the end, I know I meant well and to me thats what matters the most. Thanks to this experience, I learned never to fall back short to your own beliefs (no matter how high the stakes are).

You'll have to tune in next week to see the final outcome.

Let's keep moving forward!
