The Best No-Sag, No-Snag Black Tights for Winter
Your life-long search for the perfect pair of durable, super-opaque, shine-free, black tights ends today!
A pair of black tights is a girl’s best friend during the winter. Seriously, I pretty much wear a pair every day, whether with a skirt or dress, or under pants as an extra layer. Because my tights are under such heavy rotation, they tend to not last very long. And, as a result, I feel like I’m always buying new tights. Always! It’s like a part-time job.
Sure, black tights can be found at a lot of stores. But that perfect pair — the pair that won’t rip, pinch, lose their elasticity, or just roll down to my knees by the end of the day — is, for some reason, ever elusive. Until now.
I finally made it my job to find the best black tights and the results are below.
Wolford Ind. 100 Leg Support Opaque Tights
These are the Rolls-Royce of black tights. Real-deal. Fully-opaque. They make you feel slim, sleek, and fancy and, in my opinion, are totally worth the money. Go ahead and treat yourself.
ITEM M6 Opaque Tights
Ok! I know these are expensive too. But these tights come with a free butt lift! Plus, the premium weave is so soft. These tights also offer heat and moisture management. And, the zero sheen is always a blessing.
H&M Control-top Tights 200 Denier
Did you think I was just going to recommend luxury tights forever? Even if you decide to splurge on one of the two previous pairs, you still need a few cheapy pairs in rotation. These, from everybody’s favorite fast-fashion outlet, are actually pretty fantastic. They are working-horse tights — super matte, dark, and durable.
SPANX Reversible Tights
Spanx technology isn’t even the coolest thing about these tights! The magic here is in the fact that they are two pairs of tights in one. Black on one side and either navy, charcoal, or brown on the other. They help free up some space in the sock drawer.
Capezio Women's Studio Basics Tight

HUE Opaque Tights
HUE is quite possibly the most well-known brand of tights, and for good reason. They are super durable, fit well, and have the best colors.

Microfleece on the inside, smooth and matte tight on the outside. These feel indestructible.
