12 Pairs of Espadrilles That'll Go with Any Summer Outfit in Your Closet

...and they start at less than $30 a pair.

By Katherine Kluznik

Every year there’s one shoe that saves me: the espadrille. And when I say it saves me, I mean in all kinds of ways — like in time and in money, but especially in fashion frustration.

Not only is the jute-bottomed classic about as affordable as it gets, it’s one of those items that really does work with whatever outfit I’ve got going. Breezy spring dress? My high-heeled, ankle-wrap take on the style elevates the entire look, literally and figuratively. Capri jeans and a tee? My flat, stripy pair is just as comfortable as sneakers (well, almost as comfy) but has way more French-girl flair. And it makes sense. After all, women have been strolling France’s streets in espadrilles for 700 years and counting — proof that classics are classics for a reason.

My advice: stock up on three pairs — one with a high heel, one flat, and another that splits the difference — and consider your spring and summer shoe shopping done. Money back if you don’t wear one of the trio with every outfit you own this summer! (Not really — but I am pretty confident you’ll have no regrets.)
