What Ever Happened to Sheree Whitfield's Party Planner?

Anthony Shorter helped spawn a catchphrase—and went on to record a pop single!

Looking back at our shows, we often wonder about the people who've left. Where did they go when their moment in the Bravo spotlight was over? What are they up to now? Each week, we'll be looking into the lives of one of these familiar faces. Today, it's party planner Anthon Shorter from The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Peacock and the Bravo App.

It will go down in history as perhaps the best Real Housewives series catchphrase ever: "Who gon' check me, Boo?" Former RHOA star Sheree Whitfield shot back that amazing line during the show's second season in 2009 after combative party planner Anthony Shorter provoked her with his own threat: "You better be careful who you're talking to before you get checked," he warned.

An epic and expletive-filled argument ensued, but neither Sheree nor Anthony was willing to back down after their meeting to discuss plans for her divorce party went sour. Anthony even criticized her mother during his tirade! "There are no words to express how I was feeling," Sheree wrote in her BravoTV blog at the time. "I was in total shock and in complete disbelief that a so-called professional person can be so rude, tacky, unprofessional, unethical, violent, and incompetent."

She wasn't the only one: Fans of the show and online commenters went wild attacking Anthony following his outburst, and after the episoide aired, Andy Cohen talked to both Sheree and the event planner on Watch What Happens Live. Anthony refused to apologize to Sheree (although he did make a mea culpa to her poor mother). He later defended his actions again to SandraRose.com, insisting that he considered himself to be "a professional with a long standing resume" and that "unless you have work with Sheree or had any dealings with her you wouldn’t understand, where I am coming from."

A year later, Anthony was in the spotlight again—and remained unapologetic. He announced plans to launch his own reality show titled Anthony The Party Planner and said he'd shot a pilot that he was shopping to networks. "Everything that was shown on The Real Housewives about me was accurate. I am headstrong and I have a take no mess attitude," he told Radar Online. "I look at [myself on the show] as a character. So my show will pick up with the same character and following event planning from inception to implementation."

But no one bit. Anthony then released a music single called "Party Planner." "It's a lot like [Kim Zolciak's] 'Tardy For The Party,'" he told Radar. "It's a hype song."

Four years later, Anthony—whose LinkedIn profile says he's been the president of Big Dawg Media group for the last 12 years—attempted to drum up some fresh hype for his vocal talents. In August 2014, he posted a video of himself on YouTube singing a capella. "I'm at the condo in the A, chilling with my homeboy and we got into a debate, a back and forth about my iTunes song and I told him I had over 100,000 downloads from iTunes for … the 'Party Planner' song," Anthony explains in the clip titled "Clowning in the ATL."

"Dude kept saying, 'Yo, man, that's not you singing. That's not you singing.' And I'm like, 'Yo, man, that's me singing,' Anthony continued. "So ... I decided that I would do a quick little snippet from my favorite movie of all time, Sparkle—the original and ... let you guys be the judge. Hit me with your feedback and let a brother know if a brother really can sing or if I need to look for other career options."

In January 2015, Anthony posted another clip of himself singing on YouTube, this time choosing a cover of Veronika Bozeman's "What Is Love" from Fox's Empire.
