David Joyner played the beloved purple dinosaur Barney from 1991 to 2001, and now has an incredibly surprising adult career. According to Vice, the former actor is now a tantric sex therapist who has been in practice for 14 years and charges female clients $350 for a three to four hour session that includes chakra balancing, massage and "mind-blowing orgasms."
He even sees a tantric connection with his old character.
“The energy I brought up [while] in the costume is based on the foundation of tantra, which is love,” he told the publication. That love helped him deal with the constrains of a 70-pound costume, which could heat up in a way that isn't exactly sexy.
His practice is controversial in that he often employs the use of intercourse and prefers to not wear a condom. He says he's found a "legal loophole" that he believes protects him from potential illegalities, but experts aren't so sure.
“Not all of my sessions have sex or ‘spiritual intimacy.’ It’s only in the full-sessions, when someone is ready to take the sexual energy to a higher level," Joyner explained to Vice. "Because then it’s about understanding that when the lingam and the yoni connect there’s a spiritual exchange that takes place, not physical pleasure. It’s not about sex or trying to coerce someone into have sex. It’s about removing emotionally blocked energy."
Joyner, um, services about 30 clients.
