It makes sense that now is also the season to kickstart your love life with all the 'new year, new you' resolution makers eating healthy and working out already. In fact, once again this year, people are saying that January 6 — dubbed #DatingSunday — will be the busiest day of the year for online dating. There's expected to be a 50 percent to 85 percent spike in singles on dating apps this Sunday, TODAY reports.
So what's so special about that day?
First off, Sundays are historically one of the busiest days of the week on these apps — think about it, you're tipsy after a Sunday Funday brunch or really feeling those Sunday Scaries ... what better time to look for love?!
Then, consider that this always falls on the first Sunday after New Year’s — people have gotten over their holiday hangovers, settled back into work, and are ready to do a different kind of work — work on their love lives.
Hinge reported that in 2017, 41 percent more people started conversations on that year's "Dating Sunday," and that figure leapt to 59 percent for 2018. Tinder has said that 10 percent of all its matches each year are made in January. And OKCupid is predicting a 70 percent increase on users on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
Before this point, it was predicted (by 20 years of Match.com numbers), that July 8, 2018 was the perfect day to look for love so, if you snoozed on that date, or became single between then and now, it's your time again. Get your profile right, update those pics, and happy swiping. What do you have to lose (but everything to gain)?
