"Couples that have dedicated 'couple time' at least once a week are 3.5 times more likely to classify their marriage as 'very happy' compared to those couples who enjoy less quality time together," cites Crated With Love, a new dating subscription service which offers up curated adventures and challenges for couples looking to spend more time together.
If you're into paying $20 a month, there's themes like "Zombie Apocalypse Date Night," in which you and your partner find yourself trapped in a zombie-infested city and it's up to you to save the world and find the antidote. Or perhaps date night in the wild, wild west is more your flavor. "One of you is the sheriff, one of you is the outlaw. Together, you are in for a hilarious date night in the wild west," explains this date.
There's also a "sweetheart safari," where you both are in the middle of the jungle and must work together to escape as fast as you can. There's also a game show date night, a crime scene date night, a Vegas variety show date night, and so on.
So, how does it work?
Well, you can order one date, gift a date night to a friend, or subscribe to the monthly date night package, with a new themed datebox every month.
Founders Tyler and Michelle Turk, who met in high school ceramics class, say six years into the relationship, things began to slow down and date night seemed to disappear.
"It’s not that we didn’t love each other. In fact, going through this transition made our relationship even stronger. But we did see a decline in the amount of one-on-one time together, mostly because we had so many other responsibilities. The first thing to be put on the back burner was date night," the couple explained. "After a few months of stress and feeling disconnected, we knew we had to make a change. We wanted to create a strong foundation for our marriage, and consistent quality time together was the answer."
They decided to dedicate $20 a month to couple time. The criteria for date night wasn’t complicated, they just wanted to have fun and connect.
"Even that one date night each month helped us to reconnect," the couple continued. "And what was even better, eventually it became a part of our daily lives. That one interaction a month became two or three. Even mundane tasks like laundry or dishes became an opportunity to spend some time together."
In 2014 they launched Crated with Love out of their apartment. In their first year, the couple shipped over 5,000 dates to couples all over the world.
