No One Can Accuse Drake of "Hiding a Son" Anymore

The rapper's new album contains many references to fatherhood.

Here's something you may not have known about Drake: the rapper has a son. Take a moment to let that sink in, and then let us explain. Or rather, let Drake himself explain, through the lyrics of songs on his brand new album Scorpion, which dropped at midnight on June 29.

On one track, Drake says: "I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world/I was hidin’ the world from my kid/From empty souls who just wake up and looked to debate/Until you starin’ at your seed, you can never relate."

That, um, "seed" is again mentioned in the track called "March 14." In it, he says: "Now it’s rough times, I’m out here on front lines/Just tryin’ to make sure that I see him sometimes/It’s breakin’ my spirit/Single father, I hate when I hear it/I used to challenge my parents on every album/Now I’m embarrassed to tell them I ended up as a co-parent/ Always promised the family unit/I wanted it to be different because I’ve been through it.”

Through other lyrics, Drake let on that his son was born in October, but he has only met him once. And, it's believed that the mother of the child is Sophie Brussaux, whom Drake had a casual fling with last year. (See all the references Drake makes to his son on his new album here.)

The revelation comes after a few months of public speculation. In May, rapper Pusha-T put out a track  that accused Drake of hiding the fact that he had a son.
