Following what seemed like endless gossip and non-confirmations, Kylie Jenner has officially confirmed both her pregnancy AND the birth of her baby girl. The 20-year-old beauty mogul gave birth to a daughter on February 1, she announced via Instagram on February 4. The girl arrived weighing 8 lbs., 9 oz., at 4:43pm, according to PEOPLE.
The baby marks the first child for both Kylie and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Travis Scott. The pair began dating in April 2017 and, in addition to becoming parents, they marked their romance by getting matching butterfly tats back in June (as one does). The birth comes months after speculation began to bubble up last September about Kylie being pregnant.
Kylie acknowledged that keeping her pregnancy from fans was atypical given her social media habits and the fact that she's essentially grown up in front of the camera. "I understand you're used to me bringing you along on all my journeys," she wrote. "My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress free, and healthy way I knew how." Kylie went on to describe her pregnancy as the most "beautiful, empowering, and life changing" experience.
In addition to confirming the birth of her daughter, Kylie also shared a sweet video showcasing her pregnancy — including hospital visits with Travis, and advice from family and friends like big sister Kim Kardashian and BFF Jordyn Woods — in what she calls a "glimpse of the last 9 months."
Ahead of the confirmation, Kylie and her family remained coy about the pregnancy. Even Mama Kris Jenner couldn't fail victim to the charms of Ellen DeGeneres when she tried to pry the information out of her back in November: "Oh here, I can feel where this is going. She’s trying to trick me into confirming pregnancies.” (It should be noted, Kris did not get tricked.) Team Kylie and family still kept the secret under wraps with reports of a baby shower hitting the streets back in November. Big sister Khloe Kardashian also danced around the talk show host’s questions during a January appearance.
In a January 2018 interview with Billboard, Travis definitely didn’t spill that he was about to be a dad, sharing, "I don’t want to talk about that. They’re just guesses. Let them keep fishing."
Of course, Kylie isn't the only KarJenner sister to expand her family recently. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West announced the birth of their daughter, via surrogate, marking their third foray into parenthood. Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian finally confirmed her own pregnancy rumors in December in a heartfelt post on Instagram; she and boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, are expecting their first baby together. Kongrats to the family!
