Madonna Is Now a Soccer Mom (Yes, You Read That Right)

Madonna and other celebs are refreshingly real about the highs and lows of motherhood.

Madonna's not a cool mom, she's a regular mom — or so she says. In advance of her upcoming 60th birthday, the OG Material Girl sat down with Vogue Italia to discuss her new favorite role: Soccer mom.

Now raising three kids in Portugal, the singer said that her 12-year-old son David's love of soccer drew her to settle down overseas. "I've been desperate to get him into the best academies with the best coaches, but the level of [soccer] in America is much lower than the rest of the world. I saw his frustration, and I also felt it was a good time [to move]," she said.

And just like that, the pop icon is facing some major #soccermomproblems. "[The lifestyle] kind of requires you to have no life in a way, because things change from week to week and games change from weekend to weekend — sometimes they’re in the city, sometimes they’re not, and we would never know until Thursday night whether they’re on Saturday or Sunday, if at twelve o’clock or later,” she said

Madge's Portugal-based brood also includes Mercy James, 12, and Stella and Esther, both five years old. And for all her tots, the singer wants the same thing: "What I want my children to be is loving, compassionate, responsible human beings," she said. "I just want them to be good human beings that treat other human beings with dignity and respect, regardless of skin color, religion, gender." How surprisingly ... normal.

Madonna's not the only celebrity mom who has a refreshingly down-to-earth attitude about raising little one. Like mere mortal moms, Jennifer Garner finds that it takes her approximately 12 times longer than it should to leave the house with her kids — and all their belongings — in tow. Just peep her Instagram post from July 31:

And then there's Chrissy Teigen, perhaps the most relatable celebrity mama of all. Thank goodness for moms like her, who remind everyone else that there's nothing wrong with "regular ol' bodies" when there's too much homework to help out with — and too many soccer games to cheer on — to hit the gym 24/7.
