Olivia Munn split with Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers last year after three years together and has kept quiet about Aaron's family feud during interviews and public appearances. But the actress was unusually candid when speaking to Andy Cohen about it for his SiriusXM channel Radio Andy. She first cleared up the persistent rumors that she was the cause of the family rift, saying that he hadn't been talking to his parents and brother for quite a while before she came around.
"Before he and I started dating he hadn’t spoken to the parents and one brother for like eight months before we started dating," she recalled. "And actually I remember my last day on The Newsroom... I spent the day in my trailer just encouraging him to have an honest conversation with your parents, and we just kind of did bullet points. And then they had a really nice conversation, and then, they started coming out my first year when I was in Green Bay in 2014, and then it just…"
"Went south," Andy suggested.
"I just think it’s really important to try to mend things in a family," she added. "And I encourage that. But at the end of the day, I do believe that family and fame and success can be really complicated if their dreams are connected to your success.”
She explained that her family isn't wrapped up in her Hollywood achievements and alluded that the break in Aaron's family might have had something to do with his football success. She also took care to say that she thought there were problems on both sides.
“I don’t think either side of the road is clean, but I do think it’s not OK when you try to stand on someone’s shoulders and then throw dirt in their face, which is what I think they did with him.”
