Don't come for Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter in law. It seems like every week that Thomas Markle — Meghan Markle's press-friendly dad — is giving a new interview about how his daughter and her new royal family have done him wrong. But if you think the 92-year-old queen is clutching her pearls in horror at Meghan's familial baggage, think again.
According to Us Weekly, a source close to the palace revealed that the Queen of England has nothing but sympathy for Meghan. "What may surprise some is just how supportive Her Majesty has been during the problems Meghan has faced with her family,” the source said. “Meghan is in a tough place, and the queen knows it’s completely out of Meghan’s hands. She has only sympathy for what’s been a difficult and distressing situation for her.”
Beyond understanding Meghan, it would seem that the Queen genuinely likes the former Suits actress. "The queen became fond of Meghan at their first meeting,” another source said. “Not just because she’s the charming woman who brought happiness into her grandson’s life, but also because she quickly demonstrated that she’s intelligent, polite and keen to learn.”
Her Majesty isn't the only one who's taken Meghan's side amidst all the drama. Wendell Pierce, who played the duchess' father on Suits, had this public-facing advice that seemed meant for Thomas Markle:
"If you care about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, then that should be the first and foremost in your mind before you say anything,” the actor said. "If you love your daughter, just love your daughter. It’s not for public consumption."
