Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are headed to the altar, with their wedding reportedly set to take place in Jodhpur, India, on December 2. And while we can't wait to get a peep at the gorgeous bride, we're equally eager to see who will be sitting in the front pews — or perhaps even standing next to the bride. OK, we'll just come out and ask: Is Meghan Markle going to the wedding, or not?
It's well-known that The Duchess of Sussex and the Baywatch actress are besties. Chopra was front and center at Markle's small and low-key (ha) wedding back in May. So, we've always assumed that if and when it became Chopra's time to say her vows, Markle would not only be there to witness the ceremony, but perhaps even participate in it. (We're not the only ones who had this assumption: Watch the clip above to see Chopra weigh in on whether she'd have Markle as a bridesmaid when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.)
Now, though, it's being reported that the royal won't even be at the wedding, despite the rumor that Chopra has chosen 12 bridesmaids. Keep in mind that the duchess is pregnant, so it makes sense if she's not up for the flight. But, it sounds like the former Suits actress did try hard to RSVP "yes."
According to a source who spoke to E! earlier in November, "[Markle] is trying to see if she can come to Priyanka's wedding. Right now it's still TBD if she can make it." Ultimately — or at least as of now— it sounds like Markle's attendance might not be in the cards. But, but, but...
Would the palace really make the news public if the duchess were to attend? (Can you just imagine the media frenzy that would create?) Not to mention, this announcement would take some of the spotlight off the bride on her big day, and what friend would really choose to do that?
Markle has been known to make changes to her plans in the past, depending on how she's feeling during her pregnancy. So, when it comes to being a wedding guest, we're still holding onto hope that she said maybe!
