Casey: Being There for Chanel

Casey wishes she could've taken time off to support her best friend.

By Casey Cohen

If you take a chance on yourself, that’s the best chance you can take.

The only way to learn, grow, and inspire is to put yourself in unfamiliar situations and take chances. I've never done anything like speed dating before, and it was an amazing experience. It's so interesting how you can tell whether or not you click with someone in such a short period of time. I didn't have any expectations going into it, but definitely learned that it wasn't always easy to strike up a conversation. This was a fun experience because I learned about myself and how it's important to try new things and push the limit. I learned that the best way to handle these situations is to be yourself and have no expectations. "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." -Neale Donald Walsch.

I really wish I could have been there for Chanel. It breaks my heart that I knew everything she was going through with her sister getting married, and I had to work that night. I'm glad Ashlee stuck by Chanel at the event because that's what a real friend does.

It's unfortunate that I can't take off from work to make every event. I can’t wait for everyone to see my work environment! Whenever I take time off, I don't work, and I don't make money. I support myself and everything I do, so there are some sacrifices I have to make in order to live. If you haven't heard Jay-Z's new song "Beach is Better," it should explain the elite level of my job: "Started out at the Darby, Ended up at 1OAK, Left the house with 100 grand, Ended up near broke." -Jay-Z
