Brandon Maxwell Brings a Surprisingly Preppy Twist to His Latest Fashion Collection
The Bravo's Project Runway judge leaned toward tailored blazers, daring cut-outs, and lots of denim for his Spring 2020 ready-to-wear collection.
From its Brooklyn locale to catwalk twirls to a nostalgic soundtrack, Brandon Maxwell's Spring 2020 New York Fashion Week presentation was filled with delightful surprises from beginning to end.
Taking a slight departure from traditional yet dazzling evening gowns, the Bravo's Project Runway judge presented tailored blazers, leather trousers, collared tops, and lots of denim offerings as a part of his daywear selection. Overall, the runway daywear pairings gave model off duty vibes with a preppy touch — a new take for the designer, indeed
As for his evening attire, Brandon leaned toward silky gowns with daring cut-outs and sexy, thigh-high slits, offering a completely different approach from the classic ball gown silhouettes in his previous collection. Silk durags, statement earrings, and oversized chain-link necklaces upped the ante on the catwalk.
The ambiance of Brandon's runway show also presented a much more laid-back, easy-going feel with top models like Bella Hadid and Irina Shayk delivering charismatic smiles and twirls as they energetically strutted down the catwalk to hit singles from Dolly Parton and Madonna.
Brandon also debuted his first ever menswear collection on the runway, which features relaxed-fit pantsuits in a variety of pastel and jewel tones and classic outerwear options.
