Furry Friends with Jill Zarin
Kelly Killoren Bensimon meets up with her fellow Housewife for an event and describes her romantic V-Day meal.
Achooo. Yes, it is winter in New York. I have a cold, but I will not miss my segment with Jill Zarin for Extra where we cover the Westminster Kennel Club dog show. At Madison Square Garden, Jill and I ran around and met a lot of new furry friends, from poodles to the IAMS bulldogs, we met them all. There were a few things that surprised me. First, the dogs are bathed with Pantene shampoo and conditioner just like I use. Secondly, it takes some of the groomers/handlers two hours to get a dog ready for their competition. And, I even met one handler who gets paid 2-3K a month to take some dogs to different shows around the country. The best advice of the day to train your dog is to learn how to say, "no."
Oops it is 11:30, and I had to be at the Jill Stuart fashion show at the New York Public library. I ran into the Courtyard Marriott to change quickly into my denim grommet mini-dress and raced back stage to the show. As I walked up the stairs, I quickly noticed all the other guests were seated. I sat next to my dear friend and photographer, Mr. Nigel Barker from America's Next Top Model, and ran across the runway to say hi to my friend Roxy Orlin who stars in MTV's The City, and then the show started. Hot leather thigh-high boots, velvet mini-dresses, and sexy cargo pants. This season proves to love dark green, black, vintage, and menswear.
After a quick bite, I raced home to change into a vintage Geminola velvet dress, cowboy boots, and wear my new Bottega Veneta tye dye leather bag. Tomas Maier wins in my book for the accessory of the season award. And, designer Devi Kroell collection was brilliant. Her gold gladiator thigh high boots were so hot that the editors were speechless, even my god friend Nylon magazine editor, Dani Stahl (who has a killer jewelry line). I went back stage to say "Hi" to Devi Kroell who juggles fashion, horse riding, and being a mother so effortlessly.
In lieu of another fashion party, I went to see Wolfman. The cinematography was amazing and the menswear costumes should inspire all menswear designers for Fall 2010. Chic oversized white shirts with black trousers and black vests. The look was English countryside tough guy who during the full moon is a wolf.
Later at home, I indulged in a delicious Valentine's meal. Crab legs swimming in Coleman's mustard and butter sauce, and a green salad with creamy vinaigrette salad dressing. Did I mention the olives stuffed with provolone cheese as my appetizer? I sat on the counter and relished in every gastronomic moment with my hair in a low side pony wearing an old Ralph Lauren cashmere cable sweater and sweatpants that say "Montauk" on the bum.
