MJ: I Had to Let Go
MJ opens up on letting go of her beloved dog, Pablo.
Bravotv.com: What did you think about your trip to the taxidermist?
Mercedes Javid: If we can put a man on the moon, how is it that these are our only options when departing with our loved ones? The moment we arrived at the taxidermist, I realized this was not what I imagined it would be. Once the specific details of what taxidermy actually is were explained, I realized I had to come to terms with the fact that, unfortunately, it won't keep me any closer to Pablo. I had to let go. It pushed me one major step closer to realizing the simple fact that the cycle of life must be accepted. As painful as it is to lose our sweet little family members, I just hold onto the memories I had with Pablo and the lifelong dedication we had to one another.
Bravotv.com: How difficult was it saying goodbye to Pablo in your eulogy?
MJ: The memorial service was Pablito's rite of passage. It was very important for me to commemorate his life in an intimate setting so that I could share what he meant to me with my friends and family. I just want to add that during my childhood, I didn't have a lot of these rites of passage fully celebrated or acknowledged. Whether it's a promotion at work, a victorious softball season, or a loss, we should never forgo the opportunity to gather around one another and acknowledge moments in our life. It's never too late. It's never too late to make changes in our lives for stronger bonds, pause from the never ending rat race mentality, and stop, take a beat, take life in, and exhale. #RIPPablo
