The Insider's Guide to New Orleans

The cast of Southern Charm New Orleans, which premieres on April 15 at 9/8c, have already showed you how to make a French 75 cocktail their way (hint: don't go easy on the pours), and now they're spilling their secrets of where to eat and drink when in the city.

Justin Reese, a lawyer and sports agent, says to start first thing in the morning with a sophisticated brunch.

"The Jazz Brunch at Court of the Two Sisters, very elegant if you want an upscale [meal]." he told The Feast (clip above). "Beautiful courtyard that you can sit outside and enjoy."

Later on in the day, Justin frequently finds himself craving a little more comforting and casual.

"If I want some good southern-home style good cooking, I go to Dooky Chase’s," he said. "They have the best fried chicken to me in New Orleans."

And he often returns to Tableau, which is open for lunch and dinner, to have a nice meal and do some people watching.

"What I love about Tableau is that you can have a meal on the balcony that overlooks Jackson Square, the St. Louis Cathedral and all the people walking around the French Quarter, so it's just a great atmosphere."

Move on to happy hour at Emeril Lagasse's Meril and get Reagan Charleston's second favorite drink after the French 75. She knows where to go since her family has been in NOLA since the 18th century!

"Get the number 11 — it's like a spritz, but it's like Aperol and Champagne. And then they do, I think, some kind of peach liqueurs in it," she recommended. "It's phenomenal."

"You cannot live in New Orleans without worrying about your diet because everything is so good that it’s like, awww," she said." If you haven’t had a beignet, you haven’t lived. Period."

One of Reagan's top tips for amazing restaurants in New Orleans is Square Root: "They do really, really wonderful small, molecular cuisine kind of dishes."

But Justin's got perhaps the best tip of all when it comes to dining in the city: "When you come to New Orleans, eat until you are uncomfortably full!"

Watch the clip above to get the full scoop from the cast.
