"This may seem extreme but I don’t look like an alligator just yet," the Southern Charm fashion maven quipped.

Southern Charm matriarch Patricia Altschul knows a thing or two about caftans — and puppy-covered pajamas! — but she's got plenty of wisdom when it comes to taking care of your skin too. Her recommendations aren't centered around pricey creams or laser treatments either, it's even easier than that. Instead, she's dishing on sunscreen and the simple lifestyle changes that she says Southern ladies rely on when it comes to youthful skin.

Patricia posted a selfie from the seaside and broke down her SPF routine, writing: "Since I’m at the beach... I thought I’d share a few secrets that Southern women know about skin care. The most important rule is to stay out of the sun. I try to get 15 minutes of direct sunlight but no more. At the beach I wear waterproof makeup on my face, chest and hands and sit under an umbrella. I spray on 70 sunblock every hour. This may seem extreme but I don’t look like an alligator just yet."

That is dilligent — now, pass us the SPF 70 spray can. Looks like Pat and Kathryn C. Dennis can agree on something else besides caftans. Kathryn's really into sun protection too, right down to wearing a long-sleeve, SPF-infused top at the beach.
