Craig Conover Shares a Major Sewing Update

Craig Conover never imagined his passion for sewing could turn into what has become his incredibly successful business, Sewing Down South. "I was stuck in a room in my house, a sewing room, with my assistant not really sure how to fill any orders," the Southern Charm star told BravoTV.com exclusively (check out the space in the video above!). "I knew we had something, but I wasn't sure what direction to go in and I had really no guidance."

How to Watch

While Craig explained he had a pinch-me moment months ago when he was introduced at an event as “Craig from Sewing Down South” rather than “Craig from Southern Charm,” he is now reaching his biggest milestone in business to date with the June 25 online launch of Sewing Down South's exclusive pillow collection with HSN. "It’s definitely the most excited I’ve been since launching the company," Craig said. "It always seemed like such a huge goal, but I definitely thought we were a couple of years away from reaching it."

The stunning collection features 23 pillows divided into three different lines: Animal, Waterlife, and Americana. "I think a lot of my personality comes out in them," Craig said. "They are designed to start a conversation."

The pillows come in two different sizes, 19x15 and 20x20, and retail for $45 and $55, respectively. The price is "cheaper than our existing lines," Craig notes, "but there’s still this decorator quality. We can bring them to this HSN family at a more affordable price point."

When Craig brings the collection to the television network at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on July 1, he'll be broadcasting from his house due to restrictions stemming from the COVID-19 outbreak. "You’ll get to see how I use the pillows to decorate my home and get some styling ideas," he said. "It’ll be fun to bring everyone inside the house and share that with them."

With this major accomplishment and exciting future plans for the business, one of Craig's biggest points of pride is knowing that after giving up a career in law to pursue his passion for sewing, he is inspiring others to chase their dreams. "I feel like it has a healthy message: Don’t let anyone ever tell you what your passion is and don’t be scared to chase it just because it’s not a societal norm,” he continued. "It took me until I was 30 years old to start this. It’s never too late to go out and do what you want."

As he continues to inspire his customers, Craig and his partners also place great emphasis on using the company to give back. In addition to donating masks to the North Charleston Housing Authority, the Charleston Housing Authority, and Meals on Wheels of Charleston, they have also made a recent monetary donation to Best Kids in Washington, D.C. "During the quarantine, I was able to start sewing again and take some time to think," Craig explained. "It’s kind of in our nature. We were like, 'There’s got to be a way for us to help in some way.'"

Americana Popsicle

"One of my favorites is a pillow that has three popsicles on it. It looks like the rocket pops that we had as a kid. I think it’ll bring a lot of memories back for people. It brings back this whimsical happy time in our lives," Craig said. "It brings back so many memories. Whether it’s the ice cream truck or hanging at the pool or in the backyard, or anything like that. The nostalgia of the ice cream pop is pretty amazing."

On the Prowl Midnight

"We have some tiger pillows. They can either be in a living room that everyone uses or you could use them in the living room that no one is allowed to walk into," Craig said with a laugh. "They’re universal and playful."

Americana Fireworks

"There’s one with fireworks on it that’s really cool," Craig said.

Coral Craze

Craig 6 1

"This Waterlife line is more whimsical and playful," Craig said. "There are a lot of colors that you wouldn’t usually find. You could use a lot of our Waterlife pillows for children’s rooms, too."
