Shep Rose Applauds Craig Conover for These “Impressive” Skills
The Southern Charm-er clearly enjoyed his time as Craig’s houseguest.
Shep Rose is giving credit where credit is due.
A month after revealing one of his “favorite things" about Craig Conover, the Southern Charm-er praised his castmate’s “evolution” in two specific areas. Shep shared his compliments via Instagram on Thursday, May 4, when he provided a glimpse at Craig’s backyard “makeover.”
“So we’ve come a long way, I think everyone can attest to that,” Shep said in a video as he showed off the new-and-improved outdoor area. “This is Craig’s new spread out behind his new house. He’s got a putting green; we just got out of the hot tub. I’m staying with him while I’m in town ’cause my house is being renovated.”
Craig’s Home Renovations
It was more than seven months ago when Craig shared before-and-after photos of his “beautiful” porch and deck. The entrepreneur said he planned to fill the backyard space with a pool, pieces of furniture, and a mounted TV, plus a grill and smoker for outdoor cooking. Well, judging by Shep’s video, Craig has completed most of that checklist.
But it wasn’t just the backyard that impressed the South Carolina native. Shep went on to turn the camera toward Craig, who was behind the grill cooking burgers and sausages.
“Here’s the funny part. Craig, he gets a second chance at the apple on the grill out … I think he’s actually quite good,” Shep said, before referring to their past barbecue failures. “We weren’t ready yet, it was the smoker. We’ll let you know how it goes, but I feel good about this grill out and I’ve felt bad about ones in the past. And the hot tub was sublime.”
Shep returned to the ’Gram several minutes later and shared the results of Craig’s cookout.
“All right, we have a verdict and that is a damn good burger. I’ve already taken a bite,” he said while providing a close-up shot of the fare. “Look, it’s juicy, it’s great! Great job, Craig.”
Shep then compared his burger assembly to that of his castmate, pointing out that he prefers his sandwich a bit simpler, while Craig likes to pack on the sauces.
“He’s got a lot of mustard on it … You’re a Conover, condiments!” he said with a laugh.
Shep captioned the second story with more kind words for his longtime friend.
“We have a winner,” he wrote. “[Craig’s] evolution as a grill master and businessman is equally impressive.”
Craig’s Pillow Company
In 2019, Craig officially launched Sewing Down South, a decorative pillow company that Shep initially mocked. However, the business has since expanded into a full-fledged lifestyle brand that offers everything from apparel and candles to blankets and kitchenware to tote bags and dog accessories. Shep acknowledged the company’s growth during the Southern Charm Season 7 reunion in 2021, insisting he was happy for his castmate’s success.
“Arguably and ironically, [Craig] is the one that in seven seasons of the show has used this platform to make the biggest success of himself,” Shep told host Andy Cohen. “I am very, very happy for you Craig… Craig has come further than all of us and I don’t even deny that. From A to B, it’s just amazing, the route he’s taken.”
