Lindsay Hubbard Wants to Break Down the Stigma Around Boob Jobs After Her Recent Surgery
The Summer House cast member speaks out about her "empowering" decision to get a breast augmentation.
Lindsay Hubbard has had one eventful season of Summer House thus far, and as we’re watching the newly single PR maven get her groove back, she hit us with a big reveal. Friday morning, Lindsay took to Instagram to share the news of her recent breast augmentation — and the empowering decision behind it. Lindsay explained she suffered a "loss of appetite and weight loss" after her break-up last year, which greatly affected the appearance of her breasts. Even after regaining her sense of appetite and happiness, the 31-year-old found that her breasts still weren't growing back to their original size naturally, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.
"I am so thankful for being able to experience this journey from the start to now and I am so excited that I’m able to share it with you all, because it’s a journey that I don’t feel any shame about," she shared on Instagram. "It’s an issue that many women face, and it’s a decision that I made for me and me alone."
Lindsay has chosen to be very open about her recent surgery, in hopes to empower other women. "I think it’s important for women to feel comfortable and confident in their skin at all times. I did not do this to feel like I needed to fit into some sort of societal mold, and I certainly didn’t do this for a boyfriend. I think if something makes you happy, then do it for YOU, without fear that someone next to you is judging. Someone will always be judging, but they don’t live your life or walk in your shoes every day, so do what makes you happy," she told The Lookbook.
By sharing her experience and reasoning behind the surgery, Lindsay also hopes to break down some of the stigma and superficial thoughts around breast enhancement. “I think while most people tend to view breast augmentations as a decision that is purely made based on vanity, my reasoning was grounded more in the idea of womanhood and independence," she said. "It was an issue that I knew other women in their 30s could relate to as well, and if I can share my story in a completely unapologetic way, then maybe we can help eliminate the taboo and bad reputation that boob jobs are just for flash and show.”

The fearless New Yorker also gave us a peek at her recovery process. "Honestly, the healing process has been a breeze for me thus far. I spent most of the first day and night sleeping from the anesthesia and pain medicine. Obviously, as with any surgery where you’re disrupting a body part’s natural ability to function, the first couple of days are the worst in regards to pain, but fortunately, I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I’m also a busy-body and it’s hard for me to sit still for too long, especially since I’m gaining my energy back no," she said. Lindsay's also received support from her Summer House pals during the process, getting visits from both Danielle Olivera and Lauren Wirkus at home post-surgery.
