Summer House newcomer Ciara Miller is a multifaceted woman. Not only is the Atlanta native a traveling ICU nurse, who worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic, but she's also a part-time model. In Summer House's February 25 episode, Ciara got real about her experience in the fashion business and some of the struggles she's faced in the industry as a Black woman.

How to Watch

Watch Summer House on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

"People in the modeling world, they either want the Black girl with light green eyes with straight hair or they want the really, really dark skin with... coily hair. And when you're somewhere in the middle, it does create a lot of insecurity and self-doubt," Ciara shared in an interview.

She also explained how modeling has influenced the way she wears her hair. "Even in modeling, it's just easier for me to wear extensions because not everyone knows to style Black hair," she said. "I think about my hair constantly — and even though I feel like I have great self-esteem, it's not with my natural hair."

Things are a bit different for Ciara when she steps into her role as a healthcare worker. She expressed that, as a nurse, she feels less pressure when it comes to her appearance: "There's almost a sigh of relief when I go in the hospital wearing scrubs 'cause it's like, who cares?"
