No Place Like Home: 10 Hotels We’d Love to Live In

Like MDLLA star Josh Flagg, we wouldn't mind shacking up in a fabulous full-service property.

By Ko Im
Josh Flagg famously espouses the virtues of hotel living, and the crew from Vanderpump Rules recently stayed at the Modern Honolulu during their island getaway. Here are a few hotels we wouldn’t mind having as home base in some corner in the world... either for a short-term or seriously extended stay!

1. Ani Villas

Get a full staff and a whole lot of culture while staying at Ani Villas in Sri Lanka. Practice sun salutations on a yoga pavilion, learn about South Asian cuisine, and play with local instruments.

2. Belmond Mount Nelson

Centrally located in Cape Town, the Mount Nelson is day care heaven with equipped kids’ lounges and even bathrobes for children. All ages will splash happily in two outdoor heated pools on the five-star property.

3. Irving House

Your IQ and EQ levels may rise by residing in Cambridge by Harvard Square, and Irving House is the perfect place to stay a while. There are books lying around this charming address and free postcards to send “wish you were here” notes.

4. The Athenaeum

The small family-owned London hotel Athenaeum has five stars — and welcomes long stays that include perks such as Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Fun fact for anyone pondering a residency-like situation: Bond films were written here.

5. The Inn at Langley

Outside Seattle on Whidbey Island, bathe in oversized jetted tub at the Inn at Langley, taking in waterfront views of the Saratoga Passage. Or indulge in a steam room and snack on homemade granola in the Pacific Northwest.

6. Grand Velas

The Riviera Maya all-inclusive property Grand Velas provides 24-hour room service and also offers specials like digital detox packages as well as a “baby’s first haircut” VIP treatment that comes with a mini-massage.

7. The Upper House

From modern studios to penthouses, take in stunning views of Hong Kong from the Upper House. Checking in here means yoga on the lawn and access to a secret garden with picnic cocktails.

8. Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni

If you want to count celebrities among tourists on a seasonal basis, the Lake Como abode Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni remains grand with its chandeliers, marble staircases, and bronzed mirrors.

9. Fairmont Le Montreux Palace

How about the Alps as your backyard? Montreux Palace in Switzerland is a hundred years old and continues to offer deluxe toiletries and dining with live jazz.

10. Riad Jardin Secret

Be the envy of all your friends by staying in Marrakech’s colorful private house or pool suites with afternoon tea and shopping excursions for your cooking lesson. No phones or televisions at Riad Jardin Secret — just a rooftop pool for relaxation.
