Celebrities Are Honoring the Late Alan Thicke with the Most Touching Tributes

"He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had," wrote his son Robin Thicke.

We said goodbye to one of TV's most beloved dads when the news hit that Alan Thicke died after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son Carter on Tuesday, another son, Robin Thicke, confirmed to the Los Angeles Times. He was 69.

Alan may be best remembered for his iconic role as the patriarch of the Seaver clan, Jason, on the family sitcom Growing Pains. He also memorably co-wrote the theme songs to classic TV shows like Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life with Al Burton and his first wife Gloria Loring, who is the mother of Robin. 

Robin honored his late father with a touching post on Instagram following the news of his passing. "My father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had," he wrote. "Let's all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son."

Carter also posted a sweet message for his late father. "Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of it's finest," he tweeted Tuesday night. "You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time." 

 

Alan most recently made guest appearances in the current seasons of This Is Us and Fuller House, and he received love from the series' stars.
