Amrit Kapai and his boyfriend, Nicholas, shared their love story as they balanced a long distance relationship throughout the first season of Family Karma. Amrit confirmed that the couple is still together after the finale, and now, the pair is celebrating a landmark Supreme Court decision that was ruled on June 14. According to NBC News, the ruling said that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which originally made it illegal for companies to discriminate against a person’s sex, now covers sexual orientation and transgender status.

Shortly after news of the decision broke, Amrit shared a photo to Instagram in which he and Nicholas are decked out in rainbow accessories, including matching suspenders. (Their dog, Theo, also got in on the celebration with an adorable rainbow lei.) Amrit commemorated the historical moment with a quote from Judge Neil Gorsuch, an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court which reads, “Only the written word is the law, and all persons are entitled to its benefit.”

He finished the post by adding, “Today was a win we all needed,” and the hashtags “equality” and “pride month.”

Amrit continues to be a strong voice in the LGBTQ community. On the fourth anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, he dedicated a heartfelt tribute to the victims, as well as those affected by police brutality.

“Treat others the way you want to be treated,” Amrit captioned a photo of himself posing in front of a beautiful mural. “No one person’s life is less precious than another’s. To those we have lost at the hands of police brutality, to the victims of the Pulse tragedy, we remember you, we honor you, we love you.”
