On Wednesday night's episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen got all wet for a good cause. With a little help from Don't Be Tardy star Kim Zolciak, Andy completed the popular "Ice Bucket Challenge" to call attention to, and raise money for, the ALS Association[ALSA].
Andy was challenged by pal and Today show host Willie Geist, who, earlier that day, had a bucket of ice water dumped on his head on air. Kim seemed all to happy to douse Andy, proclaiming, "This is for ALS and every single "Housewife" out there." Andy completed the challenge in his full suit but he's hoping to persuade one Bravo hunk to sex-up the challenge a bit. After getting drenched, Andy announced, "I want to nominate Jax from Vanderpump Rules to step up and do the Ice Bucket Challenge next. Jax, I want you to do it shirtless."
ALS is a neurodegenerative disease often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease". The ALSA provides support for those living with ALS and conducts research in hopes of finding a cure.
Many participants in The Ice Bucket Challenge either pour ice water over their head or make a donation to the ALSA. In many cases, such as Andy's, the person nominated to complete the challenge does both. Celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Adam Levine have participated. The ALSA says the challenge has been hugely successful. In a statement earlier this week, the organization said that between July 29 and August 12th they received $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million during the same time period last year.
