Dorit Kemsley Reveals Why Divorce Is Not a "Topic of Conversation" with PK Amid Split

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member is finally opening up about the details on her separation.

By Casey Suglia

Dorit Kemsley and Paul "PK" Kemsley have been separated since May, but divorce is not a "topic of conversation" for them. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 premiere episode, which aired on Nov. 19, caught Dorit explaining what drove her and PK apart right after she announced they had separated.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

Shortly after the episode aired, Dorit appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen where she opened up about her current relationship with PK and explained why divorce isn't on the table. The mom of two revealed that "things are good" between them at the moment. "We are friendly and communicating and things are status quo," she stated.

Dorit also admitted that they are not divorced, just separated. And when WWHL host, Andy Cohen, asked Dorit if a divorce was "in process," she immediately shut that down.

"No, nor is it even a topic of conversation," she admitted.

Dorit reveals what led up to her separation from PK

Dorit and PK's separation might have come as a surprise to some RHOBH viewers, especially after Dorit had declared that they were "better than ever" as a couple during the Season 13 reunion, which aired in March. Although they separated two months later, Dorit admitted to Andy this week that they were better than ever in their marriage at the time.

"When that happened, things were fantastic. I mean, they really were," she explained in the Clubhouse on Nov. 19. "That doesn't mean that all of our issues, that were buried won't resurface. Because that's exactly what happened."

"We were in a really bad place, PK got sober, and we were in a great place, we were communicating," she admitted. "And then, obviously, stuff starts to bubble up, but it wasn't some big catastrophic event, the reason why we separated. We could tell that things were still under the surface and we mutually agreed, 'OK, let's take some time apart. Instead of getting into the gutter, and things getting toxic, let's just take time apart and work through our issues, and see where we belong, where we end up."

PK Kemsley reflects on his split from Dorit

During RHOBH Season 14, Episode 1, PK sat down for lunch with Kyle Richards' estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, where he explained how his sobriety led to his separation from Dorit. The lack of drinking, he explained, had made him realize that he and Dorit "were just taking bites out of each other the whole f-cking time."

"I had a lot of resentment. Dorit isn't the most able to listen," he said. "She's not."

PK continued, noting that financial pressures also led to their separation. "She could say, 'Well, you were away,' and I could say, 'Well, I was working,' and trying to sustain the lifestyle that Dorit and I live. And also to sustain her ambition," he shared.

Dorit reveals how her kids are handling the separation

Dorit revealed on WWHL this week that her two kids with PK — 10-year-old son, Jagger Kemsley, and 8-year-old daughter, Phoenix Kemsley — are "doing great."

During the RHOBH Season 14 premiere, Dorit admitted that she and PK had not yet explained to their children that they were separating, and since then, they have continued to be selective about sharing the details with them.

"They don't know that we are separated, even though he's not living in the house," she told Andy on WWHL. "He has an apartment, they stay with him on the weekend, but they think he's working, he's staying in town because he's got a lot of work there."

"As long as PK and I are friendly and things are pretty normal for them, they're OK," she admitted.
